21st CENTURY TURBO

AT LAST, A NEW TURBOCHARGER BOOK

"21st Century Turbo" is a new kind of super/turbocharger book. Not just a picture book of megabuck race cars and exotic out-of-reach technology but 280 plus pages of no-nonsense technical material written specifically for the backyard mechanics. Good used turbos are cheap and plentiful, and can be installed on just about any engine from a 500 cc to 500 cubic inches by any do-it-yourselfer with average mechanical skills and tools

The book details both Blow-Thru and Draw-Thru Carburetor modifications (but not fuel injection), poor throttle response, slow spool up, and cooling the charge in considerable detail. Also included are exciting new super/turbo developments like compressed air and C02 cooling (Votex tubes) and Air Amplifiers, belt drive turbos you can build for small engines, smog pumps, alcohol/water injection and many other subjects rarely discussed elsewhere. These are simple, affordable solutions that really work. If you're on a budget, this is the most "bang per buck" in the performance world. Unlike other super/turbo books, 21st Century Turbo is constantly updated with the latest super/turbo tech.

SUPERCHARGING SMALL ENGINES

Most small engines used to power recreational vehicles and small cars don't have engine compartment space and/or can't tolerate high engine compartment heat caused by turbochargers, even if a small turbo can be found at reasonable price. So small superchargers are the logical alterative. Unfortunately no inexpensive small superchargers have ever been available, so back in 2001 our group launched a project to produce an affordable small blower for the tens of millions of engines the supercharger industry has ignored. The resulting Gator supercharger is impressive -- better than anyone could have anticipated. It produces industry level 5-6 psi performance (safe on almost any engine with 8 to 1 or less compression), runs cool without expensive, bulky intercoolers, and is so simple almost any backyard mechanic can build one with common tools. No welding or lathe work is required (except for a shaft any machine shop can make). Only a small bench top drill press is recommended, which can be bought for less than a hundred dollars if you don't have access to one.

This do-it-yourself book details development and construction of small superchargers to fit almost any engine under 3 liters. It starts with a short history of the McCulloch/Paxton superchargers which we Studebaker fans have worked with since the 1960s, then into belt drive turbos, and finally the new Toro dual side impeller based Gator Supercharger. Hundreds of pages of valuable technical information, photos, and drawings available nowhere else. These superchargers can be used with draw-through or blow-through carbureted systems and this subject is allso detailed in the book. It DOES NOT cover fuel injection systems because of the potential costs and complications of using OEM units with boost.

The Supercharging Small Engines Book is $14.95 plus $5.00 priority mail shipping. (Check, Money Order, or PayPal) I DO NOT SHIP OUTSIDE THE U.S. DUE TO THE HIGH COSTS.
